Metro Vancouver
The new outfall will be excavated using a tunnel-boring machine. This machine will be launched from the entry shaft near the Annacis Island wastewater treatment plant and progress south to the river riser in the Fraser River. The project is expected to be completed in 2022.
To ensure greater seismic resilience, JFE Engineering was chosen to supply a 2.5m diameter flexible steel pipe fitting called “Steel Pipe for Crossing Fault”.
